Unfit vehicles rule Sylhet roads

People of Sylhet city are sufferings due to frequent movement of unfit and unlicensed vehicles on the roads.
Sources said movement of illegal vehicles increased in the recent months, causing sufferings to the cityspeople. Particularly school goers are sufferings much as they have to go to school regularly. A section of dishonest people are running the vehicles without any license by managing traffic police causing accidents on the road very often. In addition, ignorant drivers run their vehicles violating traffic rules and creating severe traffic jams on the roads.
Tractors imported from India meant to be used at farmland, are being used to carry goods after a little modification illegally, sources said.
Traffic police are not cordial regarding this issue. If they take stern action, nobody will dare to run such unfit vehicles on the road, some local people said. Refuting the allegation, traffic Inspector and traffic Sergeant said, ‘The drivers of unfit and date-expired vehicles are being fined regularly and we file cases against them.’
