Farmer killed in Meherpur road crash

A farmer was killed and 15 others were injured in a road accident at Akubpur on the Meherpur-Kushtia highway under Gangni upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased was Azmat Ali, 65, son of late Niamat Ali of the same area.
Police said the accident occurred when a Kushtia bound bus hit a road side tree in the area as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving pedestrian Azmat dead on the spot and 15 passengers of the vehicle injured.
The injured were sent to different hospitals and clinics.
Officer-in-Charge of Gangni Thana Akram Hossain confirmed the incident.
