‘Govt plans CCTV at exam centres to curb cheating’

Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said the government is considering the gradual installation of CCTV cameras at examination centres nationwide as part of a strict policy to curb cheating in public examinations.

Speaking to journalists during an iftar gathering at his residence in the capital on Saturday, the minister said the authorities are actively reviewing the proposal to place surveillance cameras at various exam centres to ensure a fair and transparent examination process.

He emphasised that maintaining a proper and disciplined examination environment remains a key priority for the government.

In this regard, he urged education officials, teachers and others involved in conducting examinations to act more responsibly.

The minister also warned that strict measures would be taken against anyone found involved in cheating or other irregularities during examinations.

He noted that once CCTV cameras are installed in phases, opportunities for malpractice during exams would be greatly reduced.

Responding to questions from reporters, Milon said the government also plans to expand the use of modern technology in the education sector to increase transparency. The initiative to install CCTV cameras is part of this broader effort.
