The incident occurred on the night of March 12, when a cooking gas cylinder exploded at a guest house on Digurah Island, located about 100 kilometres from the Maldivian capital, according to the High Commission.

Seven Bangladeshi nationals were initially rescued from the blast site with severe burn injuries, but five of them later succumbed to their injuries despite medical intervention.

He also paid his respects to the deceased at the Galolhu morgue and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to ensuring the bodies are sent back home promptly.
