Kishoreganj starts anti-dengue cleanliness campaign

A special cleanliness and mosquito eradication drive was launched in Kishoreganj on Saturday to prevent the spread of Dengue fever and Chikungunya.

Mazarul Islam, MP, formally inaugurated the crash programme on Saturday morning at Param Chattar (Syed Nazrul Square) in the town.

Mohammad Aslam Mollah, Deputy Commissioner (DC), and Dr. SM Farhad Hossain, Superintendent of Police (SP), attended the programme as special guests, while Municipality Administrator Zebennessa Shammi presided over the event.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mizabe Rahmat, Department of Public Health Engineering Executive Engineer Mahbubur Rahman, Sadar UNO Kamrul Hasan Maruf, Municipality Executive Officer Shafiqur Rahman, Executive Engineer Rafiqul Islam, and Sadar UHFPO Dr. Tarek Anam were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Mazarul Islam, MP, said the special programme had been taken as a preparatory measure to prevent dengue and chikungunya infections.

He also said that Tarique Rahman had announced a nationwide cleanliness campaign, and the programme in Kishoreganj was part of that initiative.

Similar programmes will gradually be implemented in every ward so that people become self-motivated to participate in maintaining cleanliness.

DC Mohammad Aslam Mollah said awareness and collective efforts from the public are essential to prevent the spread of such deadly diseases.
