People bring BNP to power after 17-yr fascist rule: Info Minister
Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Asadul Habib Dulu on Saturday said that after the fall of a 17-year fascist government, the people brought the BNP to power through a free, fair and credible election.
He made these remarks while inaugurating a newly constructed academic building of Khodabagh Ekramia Fazil Madrasa at Borobari union under Sadar Upazila here as the chief guest, reports BSS.
The building was constructed with funding from the Education Engineering Department.
The minister said that people in the area had long endured various forms of repression and adversity.
Due to political reasons, many people at times could not even feel safe in their own homes, he said, adding that despite facing cases, attacks and different forms of harassment, the people were in movements and struggles to restore democracy.
He said that by the grace of Almighty Allah and the decision of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, he was elected as a Member of Parliament with the support of the people and later given responsibilities in the cabinet.
He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and all concerned for giving him the opportunity.
Dulu further said that being elected as a Member of Parliament and serving in the cabinet for nearly 200 million people is a great matter, but the real credit belongs to the people.
“Although the title of minister is now attached to my name, I believe that every person in my area deserves the honor and dignity of a minister,” he added.
