‘No oil shortage in the country despite impact of Middle East War’

Food, Fisheries and Livestock and Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid said that although the ongoing war situation in the Middle East has created some pressure on the supply of oil in the international market, there is currently no shortage of fuel in Bangladesh.

He said the country has sufficient oil reserves to meet demand for at least one month. In addition, the next shipment carrying fuel has already set sail for Bangladesh. Therefore, there is no reason to be concerned about the supply of oil.

He made these remarks this afternoon while addressing, as the chief guest, an introduction meeting, iftar, and prayer program organized by the Cumilla district unit of the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association at the Cumilla Stadium Gymnasium.

The minister said the world is currently going through a difficult time. Considering the present situation, everyone must be aware of ensuring the proper use of electricity and preventing waste. He urged traders not to arrange unnecessary or excessive lighting in markets during the upcoming Eid season.

The minister said the Prime Minister has entrusted him with a very important responsibility. He noted that he has been given charge of several ministries that are directly related to the lives and livelihoods of every citizen of the country. He sought the prayers and cooperation of all so that he can properly fulfill these responsibilities and bring pride to the people of Cumilla.

The programme was chaired by Syed Jahangir Alam, President of the Cumilla Shop Owners Association. Special guests included Md. Mostak Mia, Divisional Joint Organizing Secretary (Cumilla Division) of BNP; Helal Uddin, President of the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association; Md. Zahirul Haque Bhuiyan, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association; and Yusuf Molla Tipu, General Secretary of Cumilla Metropolitan BNP.
