8 state ministers portfolios reshuffled

The government has reassigned the portfolios of eight state ministers, reducing the number of ministries under their charge. The responsibilities of two advisers to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman have also been expanded.
The Cabinet Division issued separate notifications in this regard on Wednesday, stating that the prime minister carried out the reshuffle in accordance with the Rules of Business.
Under the new arrangement, State Minister Md Shariful Islam will now oversee the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, instead of the previously combined Commerce, Industry and Textiles and Jute ministries.
Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has been assigned the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, relinquishing responsibilities related to Agriculture and Food.
Habibur Rashid will oversee the Railways and the Road Transport and Highways Division, while Md Rajib Ahsan has been given charge of the Shipping and Bridges Division.
Md Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki will continue as state minister for Finance and Planning.
Farzana Sharmin has been assigned to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Labour and Employment, and Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
Md Nurul Haque Nur has been given responsibility for the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, while Bobby Hajjaj will oversee the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
Advisers’ roles expanded
In a separate notification, the government expanded the responsibilities of two of the 10 advisers to the prime minister.
Nazrul Islam Khan has been given charge of the Ministry of Agriculture in addition to his role as political adviser, while Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed will oversee the Ministry of Industries alongside his advisory responsibilities.
On February 17, the 10 advisers were appointed with the rank of minister and state minister in the new government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Earlier, the prime minister was sworn in along with 25 full ministers and 24 state ministers.
