Biman suspends flights on 6 Middle East routes

Staff Reporter :

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced an indefinite suspension of all flights to six major Middle Eastern destinations due to ongoing geopolitical tensions and concerns over airspace safety.

The affected routes include Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, Dammam in Saudi Arabia, Doha in Qatar, and Kuwait City in Kuwait.

The decision was confirmed on Tuesday by Biman’s General Manager (Public Relations), Bosra Islam, who said passengers will be notified of revised schedules once conditions allow normal operations to resume.

The suspension comes after Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan temporarily closed their airspace from the afternoon of 28 February, following airstrikes led by the US and Israel.

The closures have disrupted flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, affecting both Biman and other international carriers.
