Fire ravages homes in Daudkandi
Cumilla Correspondent :
A late-night fire in Tamta village of Daudkandi Upazila destroyed three tin-shed houses and a kitchen, leaving two families virtually homeless.
Local sources said the fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday at the homes of Monir Hossain and Kamal Hossain near Anwar Chairman’s house. The blaze spread rapidly, reducing all structures and household belongings to ashes.
The victims, both day laborers, said they lost everything, including food, clothes, furniture, and important documents, and are now uncertain about shelter and survival with their families.
Inspector Ershad Hossain of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, Daudkandi Warehouse Station, said the fire was brought under control after firefighters reached the scene at 1:55 a.m., preventing further damage.
Preliminary findings suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
