Staff Reporter :

A Dhaka court has sent four individuals, including former Students Against Discrimination (SAD) leader Abdur Razzak Bin Sulaiman Riyad, to jail on Friday.

Four individuals were connected with an attempted murder case involving a student of Presidency University.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi issued the order after Gulshan Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Arman Ali produced the suspects in court.

Riyad, also a student of the university, was earlier arrested in connection with a case of attempted extortion of Tk50 lakh from the residence of Awami League (now-banned) leader and former MP Shammi Ahmed in the capital’s Gulshan area in July last year.
Later, he secured bail.

The other three accused are Riadul Hawlader, Alif Ahmed Ashik and Sayem Shikdaer.
The suspects were arrested around 8:30pm yesterday.

Confirming the matter, Prosecution Division SI Moktar Hossain said the court has scheduled a bail hearing for 1 March.
