Private colleges facing shortage of students problem in Narsingdi

A number of private and so called standard colleges in Narsingdi district are facing shortage of student problem as their admission target become foiling this season.
The teachers and management of the colleges are now worried and going door to door to collect students. They have been given various offers the students as fifty percent less the total admission charge, half free of tuition fee, free of cost by cycle etc.
Local said private colleges and so-called standard colleges have mushroomed in the district through private initiative during the last five years. They said over 35 private colleges are running in the town area of the district. Guardians are now well aware that quality education is declining gradually in most of the private colleges and the private colleges are now imparting low quality education then government colleges. They now egger to admit their children in government colleges.
They said a section of business trend taking advantage on the name of standard private college are making windfall gains. The profit mongers of these private colleges have been charging unreasonable session fees and tuition fee which is unbearable for the parents and guardians.
While visiting different so called standard private colleges the correspondent found that most of the colleges are running academic activities in a rental building with small class room and without having sufficient teachers. When contacted with District Education Officer Sayad Uddin Ahammad said, most of the private colleges in the district are running their activities without registration.
