RMG workers demand salary, bonus before 20th Ramadan

Garment workers have demanded that their outstanding wages and a bonus equivalent to one month’s salary be paid by the 20th of Ramadan.

The demand was raised at a rally held in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Friday, organised by different garment workers’ organisations.

Speaking at the programme, labour leaders alleged that workers in a number of garment factories across the country have not been paid for several months.

They also claimed that in some cases workers are being terminated for demanding their unpaid wages.

The leaders urged the factory owners to stop such practices and clear all dues immediately.

The workers warned that they would announce further programmes if their arrears and bonus are not paid within the stipulated time.
