‘Tendered works on-time to be completed’ DNCC administrator

All ongoing tendered works must be completed within the timeframe, said Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan, Administrator of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
Any irregularities in the tender process in the past would be reviewed and all complains would be properly investigated, he said in a meeting with the officials and employees of DNCC Zones 1, 6, 7 and 8 at Sector-6 Community Centre in Uttara on Thursday.
Shafiqul Islam said, “No illegal work will be allowed in the city corporation anymore. Everybody should work sincerely to build a better city and we have to prove it with our works.”
The administrator instructed the officials and employees to remain aware about their respective duties and ensure timely attendance in the workplaces.
Regarding mosquito control, the administrator said, “Mosquitoes cannot be controlled by spraying medicine alone. Effective monitoring and greater social awareness are required.”
However, he urged mosquito control workers to do their duties sincerely and timely.
Addressing the meeting SM Jahangir Hossain, MP of Dhaka-18 seat said serving people should be the foremost target.
He said, there had been no visible development in the newly added wards in the past. Urgent and effective measures to resolve water logging in Dakshinkhan is much needed. He urged to establish a city corporation office in Uttarkhan for the convenience of the residents.
In the meeting the regional officials of DNCC highlighted the problems and challenges in delivering the services.
