‘Teenagers of my constituency will only face questioning’
Staff Reporter :
Education, Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has said that the instruction to interrogate teenagers if they are seen roaming around unnecessarily at night was given only for his constituency in Kachua of Chandpur. He said that it is not applicable to the entire country.
The Minister said this at a press conference organized at the Secretariat on Wednesday to mark the publication of the results of the Junior Scholarship Examination for eighth grade students and the scholarship examination for eighth grade and fifth grade of madrasas (Ebtedayi) and technical students.
He said that after taking charge of the constituency, he has instructed the Kachua administration to stop drug dealing, eve teasing and terrorism from 12:01 am on February 12. ‘We have to stop the roaming of youths on the streets after evening. This is my Kachua-centric commitment,’ he said.
Ehsanul Haque Milon further said, ‘After becoming a minister, I informed the administration in Kachua Upazila that this is not constitutionally right. However, if anyone roams the streets without any guardians, they will be questioned. This is my election pledge for Kachua; I have not given any such instructions throughout Bangladesh.’
