Attempted abduction of schoolgirl

Panic spread in Daudkandi upazila following an attempted abduction of a schoolgirl and snatching of her gold earrings. Both children were left terrified and are now receiving medical attention.

Iftikhar Ahmed Matin (11), a sixth grader, and Afifatul Mawa Matin (9), a third grader of Elliotganj Matribhumi Model School, were approached by an unknown woman on February 25 while returning home from school. Afifatul’s earrings were forcibly taken, but local residents helped the children reach home safely.

Their mother, Yasmin Akter Moushumi, said the children’s safety is her top concern and confirmed that a written complaint has been filed at Daudkandi Model Police Station.

School Principal Borhan Uddin expressed deep concern over the incident outside the campus and urged parents and authorities to remain vigilant.

Daudkandi Model Police Officer-in-Charge M Abdul Halim said the investigation has begun and officers were dispatched to the scene.
