9 jailed for proxy fraud in DC office exam

Nine people have been arrested on charges of cheating in the written exam for the post of office assistant in kishoreganj ‘s Deputy Commissioner (DC) office. They were later sentenced to 15 days in prison by a mobile court.
The incident was detected during an oral examination at Deputy Commissioner’s (DC’s) office on Wednesday. The convicted persons are Nizam Uddin, Md. Sabbir, Md. Pias, Mehedi Hasan, Shafiqul Islam , Nazrul Islam, Jasim Uddin, Faisal Miah, and Rahima Akhtar.
According to DC office sources , the written examination was held on February 20. The examination was conducted to recruit manpower for a total of 59 vacant posts, including 55 office assistants of the 20th grade, 3 security guards and 1 cleaner, under the revenue administration. The results of the written examination were published last Sunday.
ADC (Revenue), also chairman of Recruitment Selection Committee Md. Nahid Hasan Khan said, the successful candidates were instructed to appear for oral examination along with the necessary documents. During the oral examination today, when there was doubt, the handwriting of the candidates’ written notes did not match the writings written on the spot.
Inconsistencies were also found in their statements during interrogation. At one stage, they admitted to participating in the written examination for the post of office assistant through a proxy. Later, a mobile court conducted and sentenced each of them to 15 days in prison.
