Smuggler held with stone statue

Stone statue worth crores of taka in Thakurgaon in a raid. On Tuesday, RAB-13 Additional Superintendent of Police Biplob Kumar Goswami told the media that a smuggler with a stone statue worth crores of taka was arrested in a raid by RAB-13 from Bhuli area of Thakurgaon.
He said that on Tuesday, a smart operation team of RAB-13, Rangpur, based on secret information, conducted a raid at the residence of the accused Md. Lal Mia a resident of Sukanpukuri.
UP No. 18 under Bhulli police station of Thakurgaon district, and recovered a stone statue. At that time, Md. Lal Mia was able to be arrested.
He also said that the estimated market value of the statue is more than one crore taka. A case has been filed against the arrested accused under the applicable section of the Special Powers Act, 1974 for further legal action and the arrested accused and the seized evidence have been handed over to the concerned police station.
In addition, RAB-13’s intelligence activities and ongoing operations will continue to implement the zero tolerance policy against such antiquities smuggling.
