Bangladesh ‘A’ Women’s Cricket team thrashed Malaysia ‘A’ Women’s Cricket team by 90 runs in their Group-B match of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars at Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok on Wednesday. Lata Mondol of Bangladesh ‘A’ Women’s Cricket team showed an all-round performance.
She hit a superb 48. Her 44-ball innings was belted with four fours. She captured one wicket for just two runs. Lata Mondol was adjudged the Player of the Match for her spectacular all-round performance.
Electing to bat first, Bangladesh women piled up a mammoth total of 151 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then restricted Malaysia women to 61 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.
Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Ishma Tanjim (0) was dismissed by Nur Dunia Syuhada when Bangladesh’s score was naught.
Opener Rubya Haider and Sharmin Sultana repaired the damage contributing together 37 runs for the second wicket stand before Rubya Haider was trapped leg before wicket by Nur Arianna Natsya.
Rubya Haider made 14 from 11 deliveries featuring two fours.
Sumaiya Akter (0) was run out by Mas Elysa when Bangladesh’s score was 42 for the loss of three wickets.
Sharmin Sultana could not stay at the crease for a long time as she was trapped leg before wicket by Mahirah Izzati Ismail when Bangladesh’s total was 52 for the loss of four wickets.
Sharmin Sultana hit a polished 30. Her 25-ball knock was studded with three fours. Then, Lata Mondol and Fahima Khatun built a notable partnership adding together 55 runs in the five-wicket stand before Fahima Khatun was caught & bowled by Mas Elysa when Bangladesh’s total was 107 for the loss of five wickets. Fahima made 29 from 24 balls including three fours.
Lata Mondol and Sadia Akter mended the innings putting together 34 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Sadia Akter was dismissed by Nur Dunia Syuhada when Bangladesh’s score was 141 for the loss of six wickets.
Sadia scored 19 from 11 deliveries with two sixes.
Lata Mondol was trapped leg before wicket by Ainna Hamizah Hashim when Bangladesh’s innings came to an end.
Nur Dunia captured two wickets in lieu of 30 runs, while Nur Arianna, Mahirah Izzati Ismail and Anna Hamizah Hashim got one wicket each conceding 17, 20 and 36 runs respectively.
Later, Nur Arianna was the only batter of Malaysia who could reach the double digit figures. She remained unbeaten with 22. Her 24-ball knock was laced with three fours. Bangladesh bowlers dominated Malaysia with controlled, tight and superb bowling attack by Bangladeshi bowlers.
Fatema Jahan Sonia grabbed three wickets in the space of 10 runs, while Shorifa Khatun bagged two wickets instead of 13 runs. Ishma Tanjim and Farjana Easmin took one wicket each for six and 14 runs respectively.
