Abdul Bari wins Joypurhat-2 Appointed State Minister

Following his landslide victory in the 13th National Parliament election, Md. Abdul Bari, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Joypurhat-2 (Kalai, Khetlal, Akkelpur), has been included in the new cabinet. He has been appointed as a State Minister in the important Ministry of Public Administration, which currently does not have a full minister.
Locals in his constituency are delighted with his appointment. Abdul Bari won the election under the “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol, securing 158,065 votes, while his nearest rival, Darripalla Rashedul Alam Sobuj, received 92,517 votes. Abdul Bari’s margin of victory was 65,548 votes. With this win, the constituency has returned to BNP after 12 years.
Sujal Islam, a resident of the area, said the victory marks a revival for BNP in Joypurhat district.
Abdul Bari hails from Shivsamudra village in Kalai Upazila. During his previous government service, he carried out many important public welfare works. In 1992, he served as Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka District and later as Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka.
During the autocratic regime of Sheikh Hasina, he was forced into early retirement. He also held great respect for ABM Sattar, the Principal Secretary to the current Prime Minister, and for Begum Khaleda Zia for her integrity.This is Abdul Bari’s first entry into politics, and he has already won the hearts of the people.
His wife, Najma Ara, a people-friendly homemaker, actively campaigned alongside him across the three upazilas, earning widespread admiration and support from the local population.
