Preparatory meeting held to mark Shaheed and Int’l Mother Language Day

A preparatory meeting organized by the district administration was held in Narayanganj to mark Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day 2026. The meeting took place on Tuesday at 11:00 am in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
At the meeting, several programs were finalized to ensure the proper observance of February 21. As part of the schedule, the Deputy Commissioner will lay a wreath at the Narayanganj Central Shaheed Minar at 12:01 am on February 20. Special prayers and supplications will be offered in all mosques after Fajr prayers on February 21, seeking eternal peace for the souls of the martyrs.
On the morning of February 21, the Central Shaheed Minar will be open to all political parties, students and teachers from various schools and colleges, and the general public to pay their respects. The national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government offices and courts. A painting competition involving students will be held at the District Fine Arts Institute.
Additionally, the district administration will organize a rally, prize distribution ceremony, discussion meeting, and a mobile film screening.
District Commissioner Md. Raihan Kabir urged everyone to work together in the national interest, setting aside political differences, and to maintain law and order during the observance of February 21, 2026.
The meeting, presided over by District Commissioner Md. Raihan Kabir, was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Alamgir Hossain, Civil Surgeon A F M Mashiur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Tarek Al Mehedi, Assistant Director (RAB) Md. Mahidul Islam, BGB junior officer Md. Zahirul Islam, along with district and upazila-level officials and political leaders.
