TT Federation to arrange first Inter-University TT today

Table tennis (TT) is very popular in university halls. University students often participate in table tennis competitions. However, the Table Tennis Federation has never held a tournament with universities before.
A two-day long Inter-University Table Tennis Festival will start today at the Shaheed Tajuddin Indoor Stadium with the participation of 30 private and public universities of the country.
Md Ali, who has been involved in table tennis for a long time, said, “Never has a tournament with so many private and public universities been organized by the federation.
Private and public universities have often held tournaments under their own management.”
The competition has already received 174 entries in the men’s category and 36 entries in the women’s category. Single events will be held in the women’s category and team events in the men’s category.
Sujan Mahmud, a member of the Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation Executive Committee said the reason for having only two events is that only single events have been held because the number of women is small.
Internationally, team events are played at the university level. That is why the men’s division will be held team event.
Public universities including Dhaka University, Chittagong University, Jahangirnagar, Jagannath, BUET, KUET, Islamic University, BUP, MIST and Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University and several other universities will compete in the meet.
Among private universities, leading institutions such as North South, BRAC, IUB, AIUB, IUT, Daffodil, ULAB, East West and State University will particiapte.
National level players will play for their respective universities. Stars like Hridoy, Mou, Tushi from Dhaka University, Ramhim, Sabbir from IUB, Emon from Northern, Sajib, Pramit, Tuba and Mahi from Daffodil will compete in the Table Tennis Federation Festival for their respective universities.
Universities outside Dhaka are also participating in this competition. The federation is supporting students coming from outside Dhaka.
Regarding this, Sujan said, “We have arranged accommodation for participants from universities outside Dhaka in hotels near the federation and the stadium. The universities are serious about this tournament. They will provide buses.”
