Hasnat’s rival pulls out of race alleging fraud
NN Desk :
BNP-backed candidate Jasim Uddin has announced his withdrawal from the Cumilla?4 (Debidwar) constituency during vote counting, alleging widespread irregularities.
His main rival in the constituency is National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Hasnat Abdullah.
Speaking live on Facebook at 5pm Thursday, the Gono Odhikar Parishad candidate, contesting with the truck symbol, accused rivals of ballot snatching, assaulting supporters, and buying votes, reports bdnews24.com
“They are cutting their own votes. Considering the overall situation, I declare withdrawal,” he said.
The BNP had thrown its support behind Jasim after its own candidate, Manjurul Ahsan Munshi, was disqualified over loan default allegations.
