BGB Chief inspects Dhaka election camps

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafulzzaman Siddiqui on Wednesday directed personnel to firmly thwart any attempts at sabotage, violence, or disruption ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections, ensuring a free, fair, peaceful, and transparent voting process.

During visits to BGB election base camps at Mugda Ideal School and College, Uttara Haji Camp in Dhaka, and Tongi in Gazipur, the DG held discussions with on-duty members. He reviewed operational readiness, law-and-order situations, security measures, and contingency plans for handling untoward incidents during the polls.

Emphasising utmost professionalism, integrity, and impartiality, Maj Gen Siddiqui instructed BGB troops to maintain maximum vigilance with no tolerance for negligence. He called for intensified foot patrols, checkpoints, and search operations to create a secure environment for voters to exercise their franchise without fear.

The DG also urged courteous and humane conduct towards voters and the public, expressing confidence that BGB members would uphold their duties with honesty and dedication to safeguard democracy and public safety.
