Army go goal feast: Rajshahi Stars on verge of league title

Rajshahi Stars FC are on the verge of becoming the champion of the Women’s Football League (WFL).

If they draw against Bangladesh Army in their last match on February 13, they will be the champions. Rajshahi Stars FC will then have 28 points in 10 matches, which no other team will have a chance of getting.

They thrashed Suddopuskorini Jubo Sporting Club by 8-0 goals in their penultimate round match was held at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur on Tuesday.

Rajshahi Stars Football Club reached top position in the league table with 27 point from nine matches and they will need just one point in their last match against Bangladesh Army Sports Club to become champions in the league.

On the other hand, Suddopuskorini Jubo Sporting Club remained with their previous collection of 15 points playing the same number of outings.

Alpi Akhtar, who was the top scorer and best player in the SAFF U-19 tournament, scored a hat-trick.

Ritu Parna Chakma was named man of the match for her impressive performance in the match.

Earlier, in the first match of the day, Mosammat Sultana slammed triple hat-tricks as Bangladesh Army Sports Club registered a massive 18-0 goals victory over Nasrin Sports Academy in the penultimate round of Women’s Football League.

Apart from Sultana’s triple hat-trick with ten goals, Brishty Akter also scored hat-trick with three goals.

Besides, Unnoti Khatun and Tannima Biswas struck twice each while Halima Akter supported them with a lone goal for Army in the one-sided affairs.

The day’s win saw, Army moved up second position in the league table with 24 points from nine matches while Nasrin Sports Academy remained with their previous collection of three points playing ten matches.
