Admin issues directives on vehicle movement during polls

The District Administration has issued directives imposing restrictions on vehicle movement in 8 municipalities and 13 Upazilas of Kishoreganj to ensure that the 13th National Parliamentary Election, Referendum to be held in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
According to the directives, movement of taxi cabs, pickup vans, microbuses and trucks will remain suspended in the towns and Upazilas headquarters from midnight of February 11, 2026 to midnight of February 12, 2026, the Election or Polling Day.
In addition, movement of motorcycles will remain prohibited from midnight of February 10 to midnight of February 13, 2026.
However, the restrictions will be relaxed for law enforcement agencies, armed forces, administration and authorised observers; vehicles engaged in emergency services; vehicles carrying medicines, medical and health-related supplies, newspapers and similar essential items.
Long-distance passenger vehicles and vehicles used for local travel by long-distance passengers will also be exempted.
Each contesting candidate will be allowed to use one small vehicle, and each authorised election agent will be permitted one vehicle, subject to approval of the Returning Officer and display of official stickers.
Vehicles used by journalists, observers or for emergency purposes may operate with approval from the Election Commission or the Returning Officer.
A Coor -committee special meeting ahead of national election at local Callectorate conference room with Deputy Commissioner, also District Magistrate Mohammad Aslam Mollah in the chair. Among others, SP dr.SM Farhad Hossain, Army Officers, ADM Ershadul Ahamed and agencies members were also present.
