Ansar-VDP vows unwavering commitment to fair election
City Desk :
Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) is gearing up nationwide with professionalism, impartiality, and modern digital monitoring to ensure the 13th National Parliament elections and referendum in 2026 are free, fair, and credible. As part of this, preparatory rallies are being held in every district, involving Ansar and VDP members assigned to polling stations.
At the rally in Chattogram District Stadium, Ansar-VDP Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud attended as chief guest.
It drew 25,545 members directly from Chattogram, plus 7,714 from Cox’s Bazar joining via giant screens. The DG urged members to uphold professionalism, ethics, impartiality, and election conduct codes, emphasising first-time use of advanced digital management and surveillance for transparency and efficiency.
Addressing the gathering, he declared: “Every member represents an ordinary voter and stands as an unwavering sentinel of the national flag. No one is assigned duties in their own union to ensure neutrality.” He stressed that Ansar-VDP personnel serve no particular party but safeguard moral integrity, warning against actions mixing truth and falsehood that could harm the nation.
The DG highlighted real-time monitoring via CC cameras linked to the ministry, enabling stricter vigilance against lapses.
He cautioned that involvement in anti-state or disruptive activities would invite severe legal consequences.
Deployment of striking forces and all members began today, February 8 (Sunday). Each polling station will have 13 impartial members. In emergencies, use the election security app to alert nearby teams or dial 999.
He strictly banned sharing photos or videos of arms, equipment, or duties on social media like Facebook, YouTube, or TikTok.
To boost welfare, food allowances and stipends will be paid digitally via STDMS software directly to members’ accounts, ensuring transparency and curbing middlemen.
The force believes members’ professionalism, integrity, and responsibility will build public trust in democracy. The DG expressed firm confidence that this modernized approach will not only secure smooth polls but also strengthen national security and set a benchmark for future elections.
