5 held with arms, narcotics in Dhaka

Joint operations by the Bangladesh Army in the capital’s Uttara Badda and Dhalpur areas of Jatrabari have led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of illegal firearms, ammunition, narcotics, and cash, officials said. Five people were arrested in the raids.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the operations in a press release on Friday.
In Uttara Badda, army personnel recovered one rifle, seven pistols, and three revolvers, along with a significant amount of ammunition and related equipment. One person was detained in connection with the raid.
In a separate operation in Dhalpur, Jatrabari, the army recovered two foreign pistols, one revolver, three rounds of ammunition, a large quantity of drugs, and cash. Four individuals were arrested during the operation.
The seized weapons, narcotics, and other evidence are being prepared for handover to the relevant police stations for further legal action.
ISPR added that such operations will continue across the capital to maintain law and order and curb terrorism and criminal activities.
