BD beat India in SAFF U-19 Women’s Champ

Bangladesh Under-19 Women’s Football team beat India Under-19 Women’s Football team 2-0 in their second match of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-19 Women’s Championship at Pokhara Rangasala Stadium in Nepal on Monday.
All the two goals were scored in the first half.
Captain of Bangladesh women Arpita Biswas put her team ahead by tapping the ball into the goalbar using a free-kick of her teammate in the 29th minute of the play.
After ten minutes, forward of Bangladesh women Alpi Akter got the ball on her way and she found the net. Alpi got the ball from a cross of her teammate and the two defenders of India failed to thwart the ball.
After the lemon-break, Bangladeshi booters created a good numbers of moves but they failed to convert those into goal.
On the other hand, Indian footballers tried to avoid defeat but Bangladeshi defenders and Bangladeshi custodian showed a good performance to save their team from concede goal.
Earlier, Bangladesh made a formidable start after thrashing Bhutan 12-0 at the same venue on January 31. Unbeaten Bangladesh led the points table gaining maximum six points from two matches.
India earned three points playing two matches. They edged past Nepal by a solitary goal in their first match at the same venue on January 31.
A total of four teams are taking part in the SAFF Under-19 Women’s Championship. They are: Hosts Nepal, Bangladesh, India and Bhutan.
The first phase of the tournament will be held on single league basis. The top two teams will get the tickets of the final.
The winning team of the final will clinch the title of the SAFF Under-19 Women’s Championship. The final will be held at the same venue on February 7.
Alpi Akter and Munki Akhter of Bangladesh scored four goals each, while Trishna Rani scored three goals.
These three booters of Bangladesh hit hat-tricks each. Arpita Biswas netted two goals. Mamoni Chakma of Bangladesh and Pearl Fernandes of India scored one goal each.
Bangladesh Under-19 Women’s Football team emerged four times champions and they became joint-champions with India Under-19 Women’s Football team for one time. India became two times champions including one time joint-champions.
Nepal Under-19 Women’s Football team and Bhutan Under-19 Women’s Football team failed to clinch the championship title.
