Hasinur Rahman Appointed Member (Planning) at BAEC

Hasinur Rahman, the Chief Scientific Officer of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC), has been appointed as Member (Planning) on a current charge.

The appointment was made through an office order dated recently, issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology under the People’s Republic of Bangladesh government. Prior to this role, Rahman served as Director (Physical Sciences) at the commission. He joined BAEC in 1995 as a Scientific Officer and has spent nearly three decades working on nuclear instrumentation, energy analysis, and nuclear power plant project management. He was closely involved with the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project, serving as sub-project director and demonstrating expertise in site selection, design selection, obtaining site and design licenses, general contract negotiations, construction license acquisition, and other key phases.

Currently, he also serves as Bangladesh’s focal point for the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO). Throughout his career, Rahman has traveled to Australia, Malaysia, China, Japan, Korea, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Philippines, Austria, the United States, Abu Dhabi (UAE), Mongolia, Russia, and Belarus.

A graduate in applied physics (honours and master’s) from the University of Dhaka, Rahman was born in 1967 into a respectable Muslim family in Pabna district. He is a father of two children.
