DU Correspondent :A teacher of the Psychology Department of Dhaka University (DU) on Thursday assaulted a female student of the same department. Being aggrieved, the students of the Psychology Department kept accused teacher Aysha Mahmuda under confinement for half-an-hour in her own room. The students lodged also written complaints with the DU Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, DU Acting Proctor Dr AM Amzad and the department Chairman Professor Parvin Haque seeking justice. “We went to Dr Jaminur Nahar’s room. She is the supervisor of a masters’ course. Suddenly, Aysha Mahmuda entered the room and talked to Dr Jaminur Nahar for some time. Her eyes were slightly red in colour. She kicked me on my abdomen at the time of her leaving the room. She also hurled abusive words at me. This is undesirable,” the victim student said in a statement.Dr Jaminur Nahar confirmed the sad incident. Chairman Professor Parvin Haque said, “I have received a written allegation against Aysha Mahmuda.” “We are looking into the matter. We will act on the university rules and regulations,” she said. This correspondent could not contact Aysha Mahmuda as her phone was switched off.
