Citizens Against Corruption calls for ending corruption

The Citizens Against Corruption has called on the next elected government, citizens and the younger generation to stand against any kind of corruption to build a Bangladesh free from corruption.Bangladesh travel guides
The call was made at a citizens’ conference titled ‘Corruption-free Bangladesh Convention 2026’ held at a hotel in the capital on Friday.

Addressing the convention as chief guest, former Appellate Division Justice Md Zainul Abedin emphasised rule of law, justice and civic awareness to resist corruption aiming at eradicating it.

He said that people from all walks of life must act in making corruption unacceptable in society.
Presiding over the event Citizens Against Corruption chairman Yusuf Hossain expressed hope for a corruption-free Bangladesh in the future.

‘Corruption is not only a financial crime but also a barrier for justice. Future political leaders must address corruption issues to eliminate it,’ he said.

Platform general secretary Salman Mahmud delivered the keynote speech and said that corruption was the biggest enemy of the country that stymied development, deterred talents to move forward and eroded people’s rights. The fight against corruption was not just about laws, he said, adding that conscious citizens, moral stance and collective protest were compulsory to win the fight.
Salman called on the next elected government, citizens and the younger generation to build a corruption-free Bangladesh.
Writer and thinker Rezaul Karim Rony stated that corruption in the country followed two models which were structural corruption and individual corruption.
He said that the words corruption and development became synonymous during the ousted Awami League regime. Journalist Titu Rahman mentioned that assurance of rule of law and media freedom were essential to eradicate corruption.
Students of different universities and other invited guests at the platform also pledged unity against corruption.
