Election-time journalism training ended

The closing ceremony of a training program on Election-Time Journalism for journalists of Nilphamari district was held recently.
The two-day training program was organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) under the supervision of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and took place on January 29 and 30, 2026, in Nilphamari.
The closing ceremony was attended as the chief guest by Mohammad Nayiruzzaman, Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari. In his speech, he said that there is no alternative to responsible and objective journalism ahead of the 2026 parliamentary election.
He emphasized that journalists must perform their duties with professionalism, neutrality, and ethical standards during the election period.
The training sessions covered important topics including election laws, the code of conduct, prevention of misinformation, responsible reporting, and the role of the media in strengthening democracy. Journalists from various print and electronic media outlets of the district participated in the program.
Speakers highlighted that the media must play a crucial role in raising public awareness, keeping in mind the slogan, “Election 2026 – The country’s future is in your hands.”
At the end of the program, certificates were distributed among the participating journalists.
