ADB expert team visits Ctg port

A 10-member delegation led by Hoe Yun Jeong, Country Director, visited Chattogram Port on Wednesday. After the delegation arrived at Chattogram Port, they met with Rear Admiral S. M. Moniruzzaman, OSP, NDC, NCC, PSC, Chairman of Chattogram Port Authority (CPA), in a courtesy call.
He welcomed the delegation to Chattogram Port and briefed them on the port recent successes. The Honorable Chairman informed the delegation about the incredible achievements of Chattogram Port during the interim government and the growth in all indicators, according to press release.
He further mentioned that Chattogram Port is the heart of the country economy and the current administration of the port is implementing various plans to make Chattogram Port more efficient, modern and up-to-date.
ADB support is very important for the development of Chittagong Port, especially in the areas of Multi-modal connectivity and Logistic Chain, to make Bangladesh a commercial hub in South Asia.
He sought ADB direct cooperation in other development projects including formulation of a timely master plan for the development of CPA, provision of technical assistance in operational areas.
ADB Country Director Hoe Yun Jeong assured to provide assistance to Bangladesh and Chattogram Port in various sectors. He expressed interest in providing technical assistance and loans for the development of Chattogram Port.
Representatives of both organizations agreed to increase the joint cooperation of Chattogram Port with ADB and expressed their determination to work together. He mentioned Let Build the Future of
Bangladesh Gateway Together and said that ADB is always interested in working as a trusted partner in the development of Bangladesh, both in the present and future.
A presentation on the future plans of Chattogram Port was presented to the guests. Chattogram Port Member Engineering Commodore Md. Mazharul Islam Jewel, Director (Security) Lt. Col. Md. Zahirul Islam, Secretary Md. Azizul Maula, and other senior officials of ADB were also present at the courtesy call.
