A group conspiring to obstruct election: Tarique

Staff Reporter :

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that once again another group is conspiring to obstruct the election. Everyone must remain vigilant in this regard. He said that for the last 15–16 years, people have not been able to vote.

Their voting rights have been taken away, their freedom of speech has been snatched, and those who committed these acts have now fled the country.

He made these remarks on Monday afternoon while virtually addressing a public rally as the chief guest at the Hatiya Island Government College ground in Noakhali.

Addressing party leaders and activists, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman said that voting alone is not enough; people must stay at the polling centers. They must carefully and precisely verify their vote counts.

“This country belongs to all of us. People of all religions must live together and build our country. This country is our first and last address,” he said.

He further stated that to solve the problems, the Sheaf of Paddy must be made victorious.

“The people of this area have seen many before, but they did not solve the problems. We will, Insha’Allah, address river erosion, embankments, and block protection.

However, you also have a responsibility—to ensure the victory of the Sheaf of Paddy.” He announced that if the BNP forms the government, all the problems of the people of Hatiya will gradually be resolved, Insha’Allah.

Present at the rally were central BNP Organizing Secretary (in charge of Chattogram Division) and BNP’s Sheaf of Paddy candidate for Noakhali-6 (Hatiya), Mahbuber Rahman Shamim; district BNP convener Mahbub Alamgir Alo; and thousands of leaders and activists from the BNP and its affiliated organizations at the district and upazila levels.

Tarique Rahman also announced that if the BNP comes to power, the main problem of Hatiya upazila—river erosion—will be stopped, and the area’s beauty will be restored through block embankments.

He urged voters to perform Tahajjud prayers, offer Fajr prayers, and then go to the polling centers. “Carefully account for every vote,” he said.

Tarique Rahman added, “I have written down all your problems. If we come to power, sustainable embankments will be built and river erosion will be prevented. Make the Sheaf of Paddy victorious on February 12.”

He said, “After the election, I will come to see you. Then we will sit together and talk. BNP is a people’s party.

And when this party comes to power, the greatest holders of power will be the people of the country.”

Addressing women, the BNP Chairman said, “You are proud partners in the country’s development. For your benefit, we will introduce facilities such as family cards and health cards.”

Introducing BNP candidate for Noakhali-6, Md. Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, he said, “Vote for him, and we will take responsibility for your development, Insha’Allah.”

The public rally was chaired by district BNP convener Mahbub Alamgir Alo. Speakers included BNP candidate for Noakhali-6 Md. Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, former district Chhatra Dal president Kamruzzaman Hafiz, and local leaders of the BNP and Jubo Dal.
