Sabina sparkles again for Bangladesh

Bangladesh became champions of the first-ever SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship, defeated Maldives 14-2 goals on the final day of the tournament at Hua Mak Indoor Stadium in Thailandon Sunday.
After defeating Pakistan 9-1goals in the previous match, Bangladesh needed just one point against Maldives in the last match to win the title.
However, the Sabina and her teammates were expecting to celebrate the title with a big win against Maldives.
In reality, Bangladesh surpassed those expectations. Bangladesh created another history by winning the first edition of SAFF Women’s Futsal with a record 14-2 goals win.
Bangladesh are the latest two-time champions of the SAFF Women’s Football Championship.
This success came under the leadership of Sabina Khatun. This time, under the leadership of Sabina, Bangladesh won the first SAFF Women’s Futsal title. Sabina Khatun led the team to three consecutive SAFF titles.
BFF President Tabith Awal said, “Special congratulations to the women’s team for further expanding their dominance in South Asia and becoming the champions of SAFF Futsal.
We are proud of Sabina for being the only sports personality in Bangladesh to lead her team to championships in two different formats of the game (SAFF Women’s Football Championship and SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship ).”
Sabina did not have such a big dream even before the tournament started. Before leaving Dhaka for Thailand at the press conference, Captain Sabina said, “they didn’t have strong hopes of winning the title. Their words were limited to the hope of getting ‘something good’.”
After defeating Maldives Sabina expressed her feelings in several small posts on social media. She wrote “Alhamdulillah” in one of the three posts, “Allah is Great” in another and in another Sabina posted the moment he was returning to the hotel on the team bus.
Captain Sabina Khatun scored the highest number of goals (4) in the last match.In this tournament Sabina scored 14 goals. Commentators have praised Sabina in every match. Under Sabina’s leadership, Bangladesh became the champions in SAFF Futsal 2026, after winning two consecutive SAFF Football titles.
Sabina has many achievements in the international arena as well as domestic football. She is the first Bangladeshi female player to make history by playing for a foreign club. She has set a unique record in the country’s football history.
