European Union delegation visits Ctg port

 

Chattogram Bureau :

A four-member delegation led by the Ambassador of the European Union to Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Michael Miller, visited Chattogram Port on Thursday.

After arriving at Chattogram Port, the delegation met with Rear Admiral S. M. Moniruzzaman, OSP, NDC, NCC, PSC, Chairman of Chattogram Port Authority (CPA), in a courtesy call.

The Honorable Chairman welcomed the Honorable Ambassador of the European Union and his delegation to Chattogram Port. He briefed the delegation on the recent handling record of Chattogram Port, reduction in ship turnaround time, reduction in duel time, recruitment of foreign operators at Pangaon ICT and Laldia Container Terminal, use of green technology in Bay Terminal and Matarbari Port Development Projects, digitization, improvement in security systems, etc.

They expressed satisfaction with the success of the port. The Honorable Chairman also said that if the projects in question are implemented, there will be a positive change in the country’s economy. He sought the full cooperation of the European Union in meeting the possible challenges in implementing these projects.

A presentation on the future plans of Chattogram Port was given to the visiting guests. After the courtesy call, the delegation visited the operational activities of Chattogram Port and highly appreciated the overall progress and efficiency of the port. Also present at the courtesy call were Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) Member (Harbor and Marine) Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah (G), BSP, PSC, BN, Member (Administration and Planning) Md. Mahbub Alam Talukder (Additional Secretary), First Councilor of the European Union Mr. Edwin Koekkoek, First Secretary Mr. Sebastian Riger-Brown, Chattogram Port Authority Director (Administration) Md. Omar Farooq and Secretary Mohammad Azizul Maula and other senior officials.
