Tk 5 lakh fine for illegal soil transfer in Chauddagram

A mobile court has fined a soil trader named Ahidur Rahman 5 lakh taka for illegally transferring soil from agricultural land to brick field in Chauddagram, Cumilla. The incident took place in Narayanpur area of Gholpasha Union on Wednesday afternoon. The information was confirmed by Executive Magistrate and Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Syed Safkat Ali at night.
According to local sources, for a long time, identified soil trader Ahidur Rahman, son of the deceased Abdul Majid of Narayanpur area, had been cutting soil with a shovel and supplying it to the neighboring Khadija Brick Field in a tractor and drum truck.
On receiving information on Wednesday afternoon, the mobile court fined Ahidur Rahman 5 lakh taka for the crime of illegally cutting soil from agricultural land under Section 15 of the ‘Sand Palace and Soil Management Act, 2010’.
A team from Chauddagram Model Police Station assisted the mobile court. Executive Magistrate and Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Syed Shafqat Ali said that the administration’s campaign to prevent illegal cutting of agricultural land is underway and will continue.
No one will be given any concessions in this regard.
