‘Noble goals make targets achievable’ BPDB Chairman

City Desk :

Staying steadfast with noble objectives unswayed by any circumstances, is the prerequisite for an organisation’s progress and proper functioning, ensuring goal attainment, said Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Chairman (Grade-1) Engineer Rejaul Karim.

Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural event of ‘BPDB Engineers Association’ held Monday at the Mukti Hall of the Power Division building, he described organisations as carriers and bearers of institutions, noting that personal growth, knowledge, and dignity propel them forward while self-interest hinders them. A healthy competitive mindset with others elevates an organisation to iconic status.

The BPDB Chairman observed that the organisation is now in a better position than when he joined and expressed optimism for further improvement. He welcomed the association’s new journey with best wishes.

Special guest Member (Generation) Engineer Jahurul Islam warned that organisations crumble due to business or personal interests, a reality he witnessed over years in various groups and urged engineers to be more diligent, persistent, and ensure rational demands.

Special guest Member (Company Affairs) Engineer A.N.M. Obaidullah called BPDB a long-standing, historic institution, regretting how many promising associations faded due to lack of competence despite greater potential, adding that an active organisation provides a proper platform to voice institutional concerns. Special guest Member (Distribution) Engineer A. Bashid said the association’s emergence creates a unique platform for BPDB’s professional security and rights.

Presided over by Chief Engineer Md Kamal Uddin Ahmed of Distribution South Zone, he stressed the association as the only alternative to highlight flaws in the power sector’s misguided policies, declaring that those sustaining BPDB would lead the association’s future.

In his welcome address, Director (IPPI Cell-2) and Constitution Committee Member Secretary Engineer A.K.M. Mahiuddin Azmi affirmed the non-partisan, neutral, and universal association would work for BPDB’s interests.
Others who spoke included General Secretary of Bangladesh Water and Power Engineers Association Engineer Md. Shahedul Azim Sajol; key paper presenter Deputy Director (Non-Proj) Design-2 Engineer Sahedur Rahman Sumon; Executive Engineer S.M. Sanjad Lumen; and engineers from various BPDB batches.

Notably, the inaugural event formed a 34-member convening committee with Chief Engineer Md Aslam Uddin as convener, Engineer A.K.M. Mahiuddin Azmi as member secretary, Executive Engineer Md Taufiqur Rahman as treasurer, and Executive Engineer Tanbir Ahmed as office secretary.
