Jatiya Party’s Ranga, Panir face graft charges

NN Desk :

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to prosecute Jatiya Party leaders Mashiur Rahman Ranga and Panir Uddin Ahamed on charges of “bribery” and “money laundering”.

ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain on Monday informed journalists about the decision to file the case.
The case will be filed against the duo over allegations of bribery amounting to Tk 17 million. Ranga allegedly took the bribe from Panir to facilitate his participation in the 11th parliamentary polls.

Mashiur is the former general secretary and presidium member of the Jatiya Party. He also served as the rural development and cooperatives state minister, reports bdnews24.com

Panir was elected as a member of parliament from the Kurigram-2 constituency.

The ACC said it found evidence of the politicians’ involvement in the bribery, the transfer of the money, and its encashment between October and November 2018.

The ACC also decided to serve notice on Mashiur asking him to submit his wealth statement.
