7 die in Madaripur crash

Onlookers rush to an accident-hit passenger bus as it fell into a ditch after running over an auto-rickshaw in Mustafapur Millgate area on Dhaka –Barishal Highway in Madaripur on Sunday leaving seven people dead.

At least seven people have been killed when a bus collided with an autorickshaw at Madaripur’s Ghatakanda.

The crash occurred around 5:15pm on Sunday and rescue operations were ongoing, the Fire Service said.

The autorickshaw was crushed under the bus, killing all the passengers of the three-wheeler on the spot.

Talha Bin Jashim, an official of the Fire Service and Civil Defense (Media cell), said the accident occurred around 5:25 pm when the bus of ‘Sarbik Paribahan’ crashed into the auto-rickshaw, leaving six dead on the spot.

On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
