Press Club ex-president Rezaul Karim dies

AZM. Rezaul Karim Reza, former president of Bagerhat Press Club and former Khulna and Jasahar bureau chief of Dainik Ittefaq, breathed his last on Wednesday (January 14) at noon around 12-30 (Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun) at his native village residence Baruipara under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district at the age of 64.

He had been suffering from illness for a long time and was bedridden at home. He was the son of late Mawlana Abdul Haq and late Hamida Khatun and nephew (sister’s son) of Prof, ABM. Mosharrf Husain, Bagerhat district based correspondent of the daily New Nation.

Rezaul Karim Reza was involved in the journalism profession for more than four decades. In his professional life, he played an important role in journalism in Bagerhat and the southern region of the country.

Besides this, he also served (now defunct) the Dainik Bangla (Dhaka), daily Janokantha (Dhaka) and Dainik Janmobhumi (Khulna) as Bagerht correspondent with reputation. The late journalist left behind wife, 2 brothers, one sister and a host of relatives, friends and admirers to mourn his death.

His death has cast a shadow of grief among all the people, including the local journalist community.
