BNP leader killed in road accident

A local BNP leder killed while his motorcycale was crushed by a truck at Taramon Bibi intersection at in Kurigram town at 11.00 am on Wednesday.

The deceased Nazrul Islam 55 is a resident of Dharlar Par area of Jatrapur Union in Kurigram Sadar Upazila. He was a former member of the Bangladesh Army. He was also a member of the Jatrapur Union BNP Convening Committee.

According to eyewitnesses and local sources, the deceased Nazrul Islam was coming towards Kurigram town on a motorcycle when he was hit by a truck loaded with stones at Taramon Bibi intersection and fell under the truck’s wheels and died on the spot.

Hearing the information Kurigram Sadar thana police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The truck involved in the accident was seized, but the driver fled away the police said.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kurigram Sadar Police Station Jahangir Alam said that the truck involved in the accident has been seized. Legal action is under process in this regard. The body was sent to General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
