Bagerhat Correspondent :
A contingent of the Coast Guards, West Zone deployed Mongla (under Bagerhat district) recovered 4,000 traps and 100 kg venison (deer-meat) while trapping deer from the Sundarbans. These were recovered from the Kagadobeki area of Sundarban forest on Monday evening, according to a delayed report received here. This information was given by Coast Guard West Zone Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Md. Muntasir Ibne Mohsin on Tuesday (January 13) morning.
The Coast Guard said that based on a secret tip-off, a special operation was conducted in the Gholer Canal area of the Sundarbans adjacent to Coast Guard Station Kagadobeki around 4 pm on Monday.
During the operation, the Coast Guard seized 4,000 meters of deer hunting traps along with 100 kg of venison (deer-meat) from that area. At that time, it was not possible to arrest anyone as the deer hunters quickly fled away into the deep forest after sensing the presence of the Coast Guards.
The seized deer meat and the seized traps have been handed over to the Kagadobeki Forest Patrol Outpost for further legal action.
