Tk 4 crore allocated for Singra Municipality dev

Following an application by Md. Faisal Ahmed, central organiser of the National Citizen Party (NCP, South Zone) and a native of Singra Upazila, Natore, a special allocation of Tk 4 crore has been approved for development activities in Singra Municipality.
The government has approved this amount from the 2025-26 fiscal year development budget.
It is reported that the special allocation was approved based on an application submitted to former adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiya. The Local Government Division (Municipal-2 Branch) of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives issued a notification regarding this on 11 December 2025.
The notification stated that the amount has been provided to Singra Municipality as a one-time special allocation from the Annual Development Assistance Fund. According to the order signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Mosharaf Hossain, the allocated funds are to be spent on implementing various development projects in Singra Municipality. It is expected that this will improve infrastructure and the quality of citizen services in the municipal area.
Several conditions have been imposed regarding the use of government funds. The Municipality Administrator or Chief Executive Officer and the Municipal Nirbahi Officer will jointly be responsible for income and expenditure. Fund utilisation must comply with the Public Procurement Rules (PPR) 2008 and the Development Assistance Allocation and Utilisation Guidelines-2024. The allocated funds must be spent by 30 June 2026.
Any unspent funds by the deadline must be returned to the government treasury, and a detailed expenditure report must be submitted to the Local Government Division by 15 July 2026.
Regarding this, NCP leader Md. Faisal Ahmed said, “As a native of Singra Upazila, I have been working tirelessly for the people of this area. I intend to continue serving the community throughout my life. I am pleased to have secured a Tk 4 crore allocation for the development of Singra Municipality.”
The Municipality Administrator and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Rifat confirmed the receipt of this special allocation.
