Litigant killed in truck collision in N’ganj

A litigant was killed after being struck by a goods-laden truck in front of the Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge Court on Wednesday . The accident occurred around 12:00 noon on the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road.
The deceased was identified as Maduli Islam Bhuiyan (70), a resident of Ranipura area under Kanchan Municipality in Rupganj upazila.

Confirming the incident, Sub-Inspector Rehanul Islam of Fatullah Model Police Station said the victim died on the spot. Following the accident, the truck was left behind while the driver and his assistant fled the scene. The body was later recovered and sent to Narayanganj General (Victoria) Hospital for autopsy.

According to the victim’s neighbor, Roksana Ibrahim, Maduli Islam had come to the court from Rupganj in the morning to attend a hearing related to a cheque dispute case. A female eyewitness said the accident occurred while he was crossing the road in front of the court, when a truck heading toward Chashara ran over him. Police said legal action is being prepared in connection with the incident.
