Chattogram Royals may recruit Mohammad Harris
Sports Reporter :
A day before the start of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the Triangle Services Group relinquished ownership of Chattogram Royals. After that, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken over the team.
Chattogram Royals have been performing well under the new management since the beginning. They have won 5 out of 7 matches in the Sylhet phase and have secured the play-offs berth.
They are currently at number two in the points table with 10 points. Meanwhile, Chattogram’s wicketkeeper-batter Adam Rossington had been playing well with the bat since the beginning of the season.
He scored 258 runs in 6 matches. However, this English cricketer was ruled out of the current BPL season due to a finger injury.
Bashar said while addressing the media at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday, ‘The way Rossington used to bat, our batting used to revolve around him. Mohammad Naim also felt comfortable having him around. His absence is a big blow to us.
But we are not thinking too much about it. Because, we have no other option. We have to take alternative players.”
Bashar also said that they are talking to Pakistan’s batter Mohammad Harris, ‘We have tried Phil Salt and several big players, but they are not available now.
Right now we are talking to Mohammad Harris, Pakistan’s opening batter and wicketkeeper. Talks have progressed fairly well with him, probably Harris will come.”
Bashar said that the cricketers of Chattogram will not have to worry about their remuneration either, “We are very satisfied. The BCB is paying the remuneration of the Chittagong Royals.
There is a lot of paperwork involved in BCB’s payment. If the owner gives a check to pay the franchise, the money is received, but there are many processes including banking transactions at BCB.
We cannot pay cash. This takes some time. However, the players know that they will definitely get the money.”
