Youth held by BSF at Roumari border

One Bangladeshi youth was held by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Khatiamari border in RoumariSadar Union of Kurigram district on Sunday.

The held youth is Mister Ali 25, son of Abdus Salam of Ratanpur village in RoumariSadar Union.
According to BGB and local sources, a group of 20-25 smugglers crossed no-man’s land in Khatiamari area of the upazila, late on Sunday night and went to the Indian border.

The smugglers were smuggling Indian cows, cumin, drugs, and clothes over the Indian barbed wire. At that time, BSF members from India’s Kuchnimara camp opened fire on the smugglers and held a young man.

Lt. Col. Commander of BGB’s Jamalpur-35 Battalion said, “I am not aware of the matter. We are investigating.”
