BGB seizes smuggled goods worth over 155 cr in 2025

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) conducted operations along border areas and elsewhere last December, seizing smuggled goods worth Tk 155 crore 59 lakh 11 thousand in total. Seized items included 2 kg 63.38 grams of gold; 14,883 saris; 26,100 three-piece sets/shirt pieces/sheets/ blankets; 26,520 ready-made garments; 9,883 meters of cloth; 443,646 cosmetics items; 16,954 pieces of imitation jewelry; 33,86,882 fireworks; 11,119 cubic feet of timber; 4,639 kg tea leaves; 10,099 kg betel nuts; 23,130 kg coal; 708 cubic feet stone; 176 cubic feet sand; 4,636 plastic/Electronic items; 191 mobiles; 1,532 mobile displays; 16,473 spectacles; 34,281 kg cumin; 4,787 kg sugar; 103,326 kg onions; 6,060 kg garlic; 1,905 packets of various seeds; 6,575 kg fertilizer; 615 packets of pesticides; 311 liters diesel; 2,26,111 chocolate pieces; 865 cattle/buffaloes; one stone idol; 8 trucks/covered vans; 13 pickups/Mahindra vehicles; one tractor; 7 private cars/microbuses; 2 trolleys; 69 boats; 25 CNGs/E-bikes; 53 motorcycles; and 39 bicycles/vans.
Recovered arms comprised 12 foreign/local pistols; one rifle; 3 hand grenades; 16 magazines; 336 rounds of ammunition; one mortar shell; 17 kg gunpowder; and 6 other weapons.
BGB also seized massive quantities of drugs and narcotics, including 9,11,982 Yaba tablets; 354 grams heroin; 2,101 bottles of Phensedyl; 7 kg 439 grams crystal meth ice; 8,999 bottles foreign liquor; 272.5 liters local liquor; 1,207 cans beer; 1,794 kg ganja; 2,32,264 packets bidis and cigarettes; 32,210 narcotic tablets/injections; 4,217 bottles Iskaf syrup; 20,848 bottles various syrups; 11,695 Anagra/Senagra tablets; 5 LSD bottles; and 6,81,248 pieces various medicines and other tablets.
In BGB border operations, 171 smugglers involved in Yaba and other drug trafficking, plus 134 Bangladeshis, 15 Indians, and 276 Myanmarese for illegal border crossing, were arrested. Legal action has been taken against them.
