Hearings on appeals filed with EC set for 10-18
Staff Reporter :
Hearings on appeals filed with the Election Commission (EC) in connection with the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election will be held from January 10 to January 18.
The decision was communicated to all concerned appellants through an official directive signed by Md Arifur Rahman, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat, on Friday.
According to the directive, the EC has imposed restrictions on entry into the hearing room during the appeal proceedings. For each appeal, no more than three individuals including the appellant will be allowed to enter the hearing room.
Arifur Rahman said that the measure has been taken to maintain discipline and ensure the smooth conduct of the hearings.
Meanwhile, ahead of the national parliamentary election and any referendum, the Election Commission has issued strict instructions to ensure the security and confidentiality of all election materials, including ballot papers, official seals, and brass seals.
Earlier, on Thursday night, the Election Management-2 Wing of the EC Secretariat issued a circular in this regard.
The circular said that once constituency-wise distributed election materials arrive, all forms, packets, envelopes, and other items must be thoroughly checked in accordance with the list attached to the previous circular.
If any shortage or excess of materials is detected, the matter must be reported immediately to the Senior District Election Officer or the District Election Officer so that necessary action can be taken.
